Viva La Chev! 1022 for life!
The Lockdown Letterbox Hunt
Here we are again - back in Level 3, but it feels like something’s missing. Last time, the world was full of stuffed bears, rainbows and inspirational silliness. We’ve been pounding the streets and we’ve noticed their absence. So, we’re bringing back the silly.
Introducing the Great Lockdown Letterbox Hunt.
Point Chev is full of them – crazy, colourful and collectable letterboxes. We’ve found our favourites - and now can you find all 23?
Hunt them down and earn endless suburban glory.
This challenge will help you get out and explore the nooks and crannies of 1022. It might help to have a bike but, if not, you’ll get one hell of a workout.
Go forth and hunt.
You can download pics of them all here, and when you are ready, complete this form to have them checked (or to find the answers)

Walking and Biking Ideas
This map shows the local options for walking and biking.
The intention is that you can pick and mix the various options into your route planning and stay off roads as much as possible
Once in the map, scroll down in theleft hand menu to select a second layer with suggested walking loops and routes.
Dog Rules for parks and beaches
On the beach and in the water from north of the marker post located at the northern most access from Eric Armishaw Park onto the beach to the northern headland of Point Chevalier Beach:
Winter (1 April until Friday before Labour day weekend): 10am-4pm, under control on a leash
| 4pm-10am, under control off a leash.
Summer (Labour day weekend until 31 March): 5am to 9am, under control off a leash | 9am-7pm, prohibited | 7pm-9am, under control on a leash
Allow dogs under control off a leash east of the northern headland of Point Chevalier Beach.
Allow dogs under control on a leash on the open grass areas, boardwalks and walkways of Eric Armishaw Park and to prohibit dogs on the remainder of the park to protect wildlife.
Point Chevalier Beach is an area reserved for swimmers and non-mechanically powered vessels.
This means yachts, kayaks and other craft without motors are fine within the buoys off the beach, but jet skis and other motorised craft are not allowed. This information is contained in Auckland Council's Navigation Safety Bylaw 2014 and Controls. You can find the bylaw and map (2.1) that shows the designated Point Chevalier Beach area here

The Point Chevalier Hub started as the work of local Cameron Greig who bought a house here in 2003, because he couldn't afford Westmere (!) - a fortuitous twist of fate.
Now with a family, we are embedded into this place, living on Newell St and owning the Rumpus Room Early Learning Centre on Moa Rd.
Jacqui looks after the Facebook and Instagram side of things. This is our way of giving back to the community we love.
